4/26/11
A calm breeze in the morning.
Somewhere on this globe, every ten seconds, there is a woman giving birth to a child. And on a calm Tuesday morning in April, on the twelfth day, the same day Bill Haley and the Comets recorded ‘Rock Around the Clock’ in 1954, after a good hike and jumping around in the rain few days before, I learned that I am about to be a part of that stat.
I did a home test that morning, after struggling with oh god oh god to do or not to do and getting opinions from your Mak Long and Auntie Ira. Have to admit that I was being a bit paranoid despite having no signs of pregnancy at all. I even did an online ‘Are You Pregnant’ quiz the day before, believe it or not.
That morning felt so different. Even before I rip open the Dip-N-Tell box, I’ve already felt like shouting ‘Behold, mankind! Something grand is about to commence!’
And there you go, double-lines. Twice. Dr. Harmit can’t agree more when she saw the strips I showed her at her next-door clinic. ‘Positive,’ she announced with one of the broadest smile I have ever seen curled up on her face. And your Da-da? Can’t take off that silly, smug smile off ever since.
It was a quiet, joyous appearance from you, little fella. Like a tiny peek of sun ray from behind the curtain. How it always play peek-a-boo and tickle my skin. That’s you, honey. Mommy and daddy’s little happiness in the morning.
So you are 5 weeks and 4 days as I’m typing this down and you are as big as a sweet pea at this moment. My little sweet pea!
I manage to chomp down some butterscotch breads and an apple for you for breakfast, despite the queasy feeling. Mild morning sickness just started to kick-in yesterday.
But, s’alright. We’re gonna rock this woes!
“Put your glad rags on and join me, hon.
We’ll have some fun when the clock strikes one.
We’re gonna rock around the clock tonight.
We’re gonna rock, rock, rock ‘till broad daylight.”
Love,
Mommy xxxxx
