Here’s a little story.
So your Da-da and I got married in June, 2009. This was after dating for ten months and got engaged for another six. It was a simple, by chance, courting really. Your Da-da is one loving, kindhearted soul with an amazing patience. So winning the heart of your grandma and taming me, a little pint of hurricane, was a piece of cake for him.
He built me bookshelves when he knows that I love to read. Built a painting frame and hang my favorite fabric. Rescued grandma’s old furniture and re-stored them beautifully. My fixer of things, furniture-builder, problem-solver and photographer. Everyone loves him and keep telling me how lucky I am to have such a great, loving husband. How’s that for a father?
The first year of marriage, was a roller-coaster ride with me still adapting to having Da-da around and balancing between being a workaholic and a sane wife. It was never easy but we manage to find that one, balance axis to move our world on.
Before the end of our first year, we backpacked to Cambodia and had a crazy 27hours return joy ride to Ratanakiri where we hid ourselves far from civilization and regain our humility.
Still daze by our Ratanakiri-streak, we planned for more roadtrips (being a crazy roadtripper that we are) and scheduled to backpack to the hidden part of Jakarta to photograph the city’s hidden struggle by end of this year. Also at this point, we have moved in to a more homey place and just bought our first family car, Falkor the Merc to prep ourselves for our future family. You can say, we actually are ready for either yet another crazy adventure or really settling down.
As I stood in the bathroom that quiet morning and stared at the one extra line, Jakarta and its railway vanished into thin air. I was certain that between the two plans we had in mind, you, little fella, is what God has in-store for us.
Of course, things still aren’t perfect, but it’s definitely perfect for our family :)
